Kate Middleton’s Dress – A Royal Success!

Kate Middleton’s dress has been revealed…and boy, did she look stunning! Kate arrived at the Royal Wedding at Westminster Abbey to marry Prince William decked out in an Alexander McQueen gown, designed by creative director Sarah Burton. With its lace sleeves and classic v-neckline, we Magpies think this choice was elegant, classic and timeless – just like Kate herself.

Kate stayed true to tradition – donning something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. For the “something old,” sources say Middleton’s wedding dress’¬† long-sleeved lace overlay paid tribute to British craftsmanship. As for her “something new,” Kate wore earrings that her parents Carole and Michael bought her as a wedding gift. They were gorgeous, leaf-shaped diamond earrings, and were¬†designed by Robinson Pelham to match her tiara. And speaking of that tiara…that was Kate’s “something borrowed,” of course! The Queen lent Middleton the glittering 1936 Cartier halo-style tiara that she wore on the big day. The tiara has been in the Royal Family forever, ever since it was purchased by King George VI for the Queen Mother. And lastly, of course Kate wore her “something blue.” Although you couldn’t see it, there was a bit of blue ribbon sewn into the gown. We Magpies thought Kate looked exquisite on her big day – modern, regal, and truly beautiful. What do you think of Kate’s dress?
