Magpie Picks for New York Restaurant Week 2011

We Magpies pride ourselves on our commitment to finding the hottest and most delicious restaurants. Frankly, not many of our favorites (what up with that?) are participating in New York restaurant week this summer (which runs until July 24th), but since many Magpies have contacted us regarding our top picks, we thought we would give you some suggestions.

1) Artisanal (32nd Street between Park and Madison; 212-725-8585): You can’t go wrong with this pleasant French spot, which has some of the best cheese around. Our suggestion would be to go for an early dinner and try some of their fabulous wine along with your meal. Perfect for a light bite.

2) Bond ST (Broadway and Lafayette; 212-777-2500): We Magpies thought Bond ST was a fab place to get together and catch up with friends. It’s in a great location, there’s always a young, trendy crowd, and best of all, the Japanese food is really good. Make sure to try the tuna crispy rice!

3) Butter (Astor Place and East 4th Street; 212-253-2828): Butter has been around for quite a while, but we always enjoy our meals here – and their restaurant week menu is no exception. Make sure you head downstairs to the bar after dinner…the last time we were there, we spotted Leonardo DiCaprio and Chace Crawford (hey…you never know…).

4) Dos Caminos Meatpacking (14th Street between 9th and Hudson Avenues; 212-699-2400): Okay, so Dos Caminos is another place that’s definitely not new – but the Meatpacking location is by far our favorite (especially in the summer!). They have some of the best guacamole in the city – and their blueberry pomegranate margarita is faboosh (it’s Jessica Simpson’s favorite!).

5) The Hurricane Club (26th Street and Park Avenue; 212-951-7111): While the food here is just okay and (in our opinion) way overpriced, we have to admit that this place is one of the coolest-looking spots in all of NYC. And with its restaurant week menu priced just right – we think it’s one of your best bets. It’s a great place to go with a group and people watch!

So, there are a few of our top suggestions – now go grab some Magpies to make it a great time!
