No Longer Extra Virgin Virgins!

We’ve been to Extra Virgin in the West Village countless times since we first discovered it exactly a year ago. We Magpies have always been impressed by the fresh ingredients, laid-back vibe, and cool-looking crowd. So when a friend suggested we check it out for brunch, we thought it was a good idea – little did we know how delish our meal would be! We were seated at an adorable table for two outside, so we got to people-watch, catch some rays, and dine all at once. Also – we highly recommend this spot for dog owners. One Magpie brought along her cutie petutie French bulldog – and the waitress was so sweet, she brought out some water for the dog! Onto the food…we decided to split something sweet and something a bit, ahem, healthier. We went with the Virgin Frittata – eggs, goat cheese, roasted tomato, arugula, and basil pesto.  It was so much more substantial than your typical egg dish, and unusually delish.

We also had to try the banana french toast, served with caramelized bananas and whipped mascarpone. Okay, Magpies, when we say this was the best french toast we’ve had in NYC, you’d better believe it (we’ve tried nearly every restaurant’s version!). This was light, fluffy, sweet (but not too sweet), and it literally melted in our mouths. This place gives Clinton Street Baking Company (another Magpie fave) a real run for its money in the “best brunch” category. We’re already dreaming about our next Extra Virgin brunch – since we’re not virgins anymore…
