Two Little Red Hens Flower Shop?!

There are no little red hens at this little shop. There are actually no little farm animals at all. We Magpies were walking around the Upper East Side and decided to check out this quiet little bake shop because we remembered some red velvet cupcake lovers had picked this bakery as one of the best in the city. When we entered, there was a line to order, extending from the front door to the counter. When we finally reached the front glass display cases, we were so amazed at the beautiful little cakes decorated with flowers, that we almost forgot it was a bake shop! We ordered mini red cupcakes to sample – they bake most flavored cupcakes in two sizes: large, or I-wish-I-got-the-large-size mini. We were all impressed that the little red velvet cupcake was really fresh with a light sweet cream cheese icing. But what was even more impressive were the variety of little flowered cakes (as small as 4″ round). Though we didn’t get to taste them (although we were told that they are essentially the cakes and icings used for  the cupcakes) we probably would not have had the heart to bite into such a pretty little work of art. We were really happy to have randomly found Two Little Red Hens, but we were really UNhappy that we didn’t go for the large size cupcake!

FYI – They also do special-order cakes for all occasions, so if you know of anyone who’s getting married and needs a wedding cake, or for that matter, anyone who is not getting married but still wants one…these two little red hens can do that too!
