New Face Lotion For Sun Days – Try It You’ll Like It!
Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you know by now how damaging the sun can be for your skin. We are very aware of it too, but whether we’re very consistent about applying sunscreen every day, well, that’s another story. Even the sunblocks that claim they’re light and won’t clog our pores, are still too heavy for everyday wear and we still break out from them. That’s why recently when we read about Laura Mercier’s SPF 40+ sunblock for the face, we had to get it. Although it was pretty expensive for our Coppertone tastes ($45 at Sephora), we decided to splurge and buy it to see if it was as good a product as it’s advertised to be. One of the nice things about it is that you can use it before you apply your makeup, or after. How good is that? Also even though it’s a very little bottle for such a big price tag, you just need a bit of it to spread this watery liquid all over your face. So far so good! We then tried it out as we sat outside at a rooftop pool to see if we got good sun protection. And surprisingly, it worked quite well! In fact we were so happy with our new, special (translation…expensive) lotion that we decided to share it with some of the other SPF-deficient Magpies. Were we surprised to find out that not only had they heard about Laura Mercier’s lotion, but they instead had bought a new, special (translation…much cheaper than Laura Mercier) lotion by Neutrogena that sounded very similar (SPF 55t!)! So we decide to do a sun bake-off!
We used one product one day over this sunny July 4th weekend, and we used the other one the next day (lucky for our experiment, the weather was spectacular!!!) And we are now pleased to share with you our results…tah dah! They both go on smoothly, with the same liquid consistency (shake before use!) and offer great sunscreen protection. Both seem to be as waterproof and odorless as they claim, they didn’t drip off – or worse, clog our pores! And both were easy to apply because it disappears so quickly into your skin! The only major difference is…the more impressive packaging and price tag of the Laura Mercier lotion. So, in conclusion, we Magpies will definitely buy the Neutrogena sunblock again ($12.99 at Target!), and tell anyone that will listen that we’ve tried the really special (translation…expensive) Laura Mercier lotion…and ours works just as good.
