Crif Dogs: More Than Just a Pretty Hot Dog – But PDT!
If you’re a hot dog purist, rest easy. At Crif Dogs, located at 113 St.Marks Place (between 1st Ave. and Ave. A) you can get your hot dogs any way you like them. But you can also get them in ways that you probably didn’t think you’d like them…and like them even better! The crew at Harriet Magpie have been there on numerous occasions and we’ve never gotten the same hot dog twice. We’ve had our dogs deep fried, wrapped in bacon, smothered in avocado, blanketed with cheese and a fried egg, and one of our favorites, shmeared with cream cheese, scallions and everything bagel seeds!
BUT – don’t think Crif Dogs is just a hot dog joint…nooo way!! Inside this innocuous place there’s a telephone booth, where you have to pick up a phone to ask to enter the bar called PDT – which is located behind the booth!
There is bar seating at a first come first served basis, but you must call after 3 pm on the day you go for table reservations. Once inside, there are comfy leather booths to sit in…
…and if you don’t feel like having a beer, there are professional mixologists who make the best drinks to go with your extravagant hot dog!
How cool?! Where else can you get a rather fancy-shmancy drink and also order a gourmet hot dog and crunchy tater tots?!
Exactly. Absolutely nowhere. We rest our case.
