The Hurricane Club – Sign Us Up, We’re Ready to Join!

The Hurricane Club is a hot new tiki-inspired spot on 26th Street and Park Avenue, not far from the new Gansevoort Hotel (which we Magpies love). So on a recent night out, we decided to check out The Hurricane Club to see if it lived up to its hype. First of all, the place is beautiful. There are gigantic crystal chandeliers everywhere, including a huge one on top of the bar area. When you step inside, you feel like you’ve been transported to a tropical location…and now that the New York weather is getting colder, it’s a really pleasant decor to hang out in. We immediately ordered drinks off these adorable menus, made to look like maps…

We got an island version of a margarita (this one had a touch of pink sea salt on the rim – how cute!)…

As for the food, the menu was extensive, and hard to narrow down (we were really hungry, and everything sounded good).  We finally decided on the spicy chicken lettuce wraps…

The mahi mahi skewers, served with a box of SIX(!) dipping sauces…

And the golden chicken – which, obvs, was golden in color!

Overall, the food was pretty good (not great), but the experience was fab. The place had a cool, young crowd the night we were there, and we’d give our festive drinks two thumbs up. It’s a good choice for after-work drinks and appetizers, and you’ll truly feel like you’ve escaped from NYC once you’re inside. The Hurricane Club is definitely our kind of club…so sign us up, we’re ready to join!
